Movement East | About Lauren

Our Why

We proudly integrate eastern principles into western practice, embracing a holistic approach that fosters a deeper connection to our bodies. (See more below). We consider all possible influences that influence injury & hinder recovery such as sleep, occupational factors, postural habits, previous injuries to nutrition and your wider health (mental, social & emotional). We use acupuncture, dry needling and individualized treatment, specific to you & your physical needs & find clients see better results from addressing the root causes rather than symptoms. We’re a professional team and strive to provide excellent care, as you trust us to guide you through the path of recovery.

Principles guiding our practice

Holism We view the human body as an interconnected system. Through a holistic lens, we understand injury and dysfunction in the body can not only be influenced by physical factors but emotional, psychological and environmental influences also.

Eastern philosophies Aside from utilizing our standard physiotherapy tools, we draw in treatment practices such as acupuncture which not only targets pain but balances out our sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.

Mind-body connection Your recovery/treatment plan may include practices beyond our physical self. We draw in rehabilitative exercises that may stem from practices such as yoga, breathwork and meditation, particularly if your overall nervous system is influencing the current state of injury.

Prevention A powerful eastern practice. We have an integral focus when it comes to becoming more educated around injury and understanding the dynamic interplay of various factors in healing.

It’s about getting to the root cause of injury and dysfunction, not just the symptoms.

Don’t get us wrong, manual therapy is essential for us in every session however we educate & provide you with a wider toolset to manage and prevent injury in the future.

Lauren

Managing Director

I have always had a genuine passion for helping people. My caring nature and hard work ethic has enabled me to provide professional, quality and meaningful physiotherapy over the last 11 years throughout south and east Auckland.

I’ve looked after all ages, various sports teams, your everyday gym goer to top level athletes.

This is my second business in the industry. I therefore bring a wealth of knowledge to movement east & have strong desires to grow a team of like-minded practitioners that share my passion for assessing and treating injuries.

I love empowering people, combining evidence-based injury management with strategies in real life experiences that successfully work and enable us to physically thrive.

What kind of practitioner are you?

I’m big on firm manual therapy and needling. I like to make change. You’ll never leave without an understanding for how to manage your injury and you’ll have tools to strengthen & better your biomechanics/weaknesses.

I love working with shoulders and hips as well as ACL/Post op rehabilitation. I also enjoy complex injuries and helping people with second opinions or with older injuries they feel like you’ve recovered from, I’m determined to help you get better. I love working with people and helping them feel like they’ve achieved something.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I am a Mum to a beautiful three-year-old boy, so my time is often with him. I love spending time with my partner and friends/family also. Outside of that, the gym is my second home & I love anything active (running, swimming, being outdoors somewhere!)

So, welcome to Movement East.
You’re in the right place.
